JNU Women's soccer club 'Jedaero' conquered whole country

Jeju National University women's soccer club Jedaero (Park Kyung-ho, Coach) won the national championship.

Jedaero defeated Sookmyung Women's University's FC Sookmyung in the final of the '2022 Korea University Sports Federation (KUSF) Club Championship National qualifier-1st round held at the supplementary stadium of Suwon World Cup Stadium.

Jedaero had a close game with FC Sookmyung for a 1-1 draw, and the match went into overtime. However, the two teams could not settle the affair even in overtime.

In the penalty shoot-out Jedaero came out on top with the score of 4–3, winning the national championship for the first time since the team was founded in 2018. Previously, Jedaero defeated Chung-Ang University's FC NIC 11-0 in the first round of the group qualifier held on May 28th. However, in the second round of the preliminary round, they were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat to Ewha Womans University's ESSA, but still advanced to the quarterfinals as the 2nd place team in the group. Then, in the quarterfinals against Soongsil University's REPL held on June 5th, Jedaero won the game with the score of 2-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they advanced to the final by winning a close match in a shootout against Ewha Womans University's ESSA, which had previously defeated them in the preliminary round.

Jedaero was founded five years ago and is a pure amateur soccer club consisting of female students from Jeju National University, all of whom are busy with their studies, part-time jobs, and job preparation. However they are all united by their passion for soccer.

Coach Park Kyung-ho (Academic research professor) said, “Our team members have taken time from their busy schedules to practice and have to take the trouble to fly to participate in the competition in the other region, adding that , "Despite many difficulties, Jedaero are also sweating today with the determination to channel their passion in to victory.".
