Jeju National University held an event to open the ‘State-of-the-art Classroom for Immersive Media, VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality)’ at the Distance Education Center.

This state-of-the-art classroom was built in order to lead the new metaverse industry which is a virtual digital world that communicates with reality, as well as to cultivate creative future talents in the phase of Industry 4.0.

In this classroom, a variety of programs will be provided such as VR content-related subjects, support for VR content production student club activities, and career experiences in secondary schools in Jeju.

President Kim Eel-hwan said, "Utilizing the distance education infrastructure, we are planning to be able to conduct hybrid classes based on one professor with more than one subject,“ stressing that, "JNU will do its best not only to develop innovative and creative teaching methods but also to ensure that self-directed learning can be made substantial.”

Through this, credit exchange is being carried out among the four universities in Jeju.

The number of exchange education courses will also be increased from 4 in 2020 to 8 in 2021, and 12 in 2022. Currently 679 students are taking the courses.
