Regional climate change-mediated pathogen monitoring center opened at JNU Veterinary College



With hanging of the organizational tablet, Jeju Regional Center for Monitoring Climate Change-Mediated Pathogens has opened its operation at the Jeju National University College of Veterinary Medicine last Wednesday (September 16, 2015).

Korea Disease Control Headquarter established 9 regional centers for monitoring infectious pathogens originated from different zones and overseas as well as those resulting from their climate-change induced flow of such bacteria and viruses as Scrub typhus, Japanese  encephalitis, malaria, Dengue fever (break bone fever),  and West Niles fever, etc.

The newly opened regional center plans to conduct research, monitoring and prevention of animal and human diseases mediated especially by mosquito and ticks (Metastigmata).
