JNU SW (Software) Centered University Project Team (Director Song Wang-cheol) will hold the ‘Global Challenge Hackathon Contest’ to solve global issues that the UN has focused on at the Together Zone in the AIx Future Technology Junior Academy experience center, Cheomdan-ro, Jeju-si, on the 28th of July.

This competition, co-hosted by Smilegate Future Lab, is sponsored by the CT Teachers Research Association and Jeju Free International City Development Center.

Anyone aged 11-19 can participate in this event. Applications and submissions can be made through https://bit.ly/Futurelab_jeju. Applications close on the 23rd of July.

The competition starts at 10 am. Participating membes will be presented with the theme of the challenge and they will form teams. Each team will pitch ideas, do research and discussion with team members. Then, they learn how to code with microbit through the SW project creation process, share the completed works with other teams, and submit them to MGC. This will automatically apply to the ‘do your :bit’ challenge, where entries are submitted in from 50 countries around the world.

JNU's SW Centered University Project Group announced, "Through this event, we will support teenagers in Jeju to experience a creative SW learning culture by submitting their projects to international competitions and expanding their horizons."

As of 2022, with the participation of 450 classes and clubs across the country, more than 10,000 children and teenagers have participated in the contest in Korea. The project team expects that by participating in this global citizen education project, students will have the opportunity to develop global competency using SW and creative problem-solving skills in an integrated way.
