Jeju Assemblyman Kim Woo Nam announces 10-yr funding for black cattle husbandry
The Assemblyman Kim Woo Nam, Chairman, Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Committee, announced that Jeju National University was awarded a 10-year grant to develop the black cattle industry and the developmental work would be led by the JNU Animal Husbandry Products Center.
Accordingly, industrial scale development of the Jeju black cow (Natural Monument #546) gets a financial and technical momentum for its successful cattle industry. Professor Park Se Pil, Director, JNU Stem Cell Research Center and Professor of Biotechnology serves as the project leader.
The animal husbandry products center is expected to get funding at the level of 900 million won per year for ten years (2015~2024).
The research funding will be supplemented by Jeju Autonomous Government and Jeju National University, each contributing 450 million won. Overall, the 10-year project is anticipated to cost more than 2 billion won.
