JNU GTU Project teams win excellence award in English teaching


Jeju National University Global Teachers University (GTU) Project (Chung Kwang Joong, Director) was rated excellent in its team members’ performance in English teaching at the Japan Korea English Teaching Mock Contest (IGT, I am a Global Teacher) held at Tokyo Gakugei University in Japan, it was announced earlier today (November 30, 2015). The project team members were Kang Myung Hoon, Yang Ji Hee and Kang Byung Kwon, “Difference Team”, all of Elementary Education Department and Ko Ji Hyung, Lee Hyun Jung and Ko Da Won, “I.C.E” team, all of English Education Department. The team members received the excellence award sponsored by the President of the National Research Foundation of Korea.

Jeju National University was the only institution with every entrant winning an award. The JNU team also scored the highest in the evaluation committee’s rating.

Other universities participating in the contest were Kyungpook National, Kyung In Education, and Korea Education Universities, in addition to two teams from the host university in Japan.

The two award winning subject titles were ‘Making and Playing the Simple Instrument’ and ‘Volcanic Creation & Effects with Grandma Seolmoonde,’ respectively.
