President Huh announces Public Health Graduate School and expanded Rolling Admission policy at press conference

President Huh Hyang Jin announced that a Public Health Graduate School would be established at Jeju National University and that rolling admission policy gets expanded to meet the needs of the region starting new academic year.
President Huh made the above announcement at a press conference held last Wednesday (December 2, 2015).
The graduate school aims to train public health professionals and researchers with a masters degree in public health sciences. The night school will open with three academic departments, Public Health, Public Health Nursing, and Dental Public Health.
The new graduate school will be operated on a 5-semester schedule (2 years and 6 months). Initial enrollment is expected to be 15.
Applications are accepted during December 15 through 21, for seven days, and queries can be directed to the JNU School of Medicine office at (☎ 064-754-8003∼6).
The need for a public health graduate school arose when the country was hit with MERS epidemic last summer. The university and public health officials of the regional government realized the critical need for more public health professionals to respond to such situations in the future. Jeju is the only province in the country without a public health graduate school.
President Huh also announced that rolling admission rate increases from34.3% in 2016 to 45.9% in 2017 academic year.
The university’s scholarship stipends will rise to an average of 2.59 million won per recipient and the percentage of scholarship recipients will increase to 68.5% in academic year 2016.
