Lee Jin Seok wins superior research presentation award

Lee Jin Seok of the Jeju National University Faculty of Wind Electric Power (Wind Power Systems Major) won a superior research presentation award at the 2015 Annual Meeting of Korean Fluid Mechanics Society held in Jeju Lotte City Hotel last week. Lee is a Masters candidate under the supervision of his mentor, Professor Kim Beom Seok.

Lee’s award-winning paper was entitled “Design Study on a Stall-Regulated Horizontal Axis Tidal Turbine Blade Considering the Speed-Up Effect of in a Duct.”

The paper proposed a model for a turbine blade to prevent the cavitation phenomenon associated with small turbines operating underwater.
