The Ara Overseas Volunteer Group of College of Veterinary Medicine JNU conducted animal treatment volunteer work in Mongolia from the 12th to the 19th of July.
The Group consisted of 37, including 6 professors, 23 students, and 8 veterinarians and staff.
The volunteer group performed vaccinations for dogs and cats against rabies and DHPPL (comprehensive vaccine), internal and extermination of external parasite, neutering surgery, and basic treatment at an abandoned animal shelter in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
In addition, specification, breeding, ranch management, basic deworming, and medical treatment on about 200 livestock were conducted at private and school-affiliated ranches.
A business agreement was also signed with the Mongolian University of Life Science, School of Veterinary Medicine, laying the groundwork for future academic exchanges and international research.
Lee Young-jae, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at JNU, said, "This volunteer activity provided students with field work experience and became an opportunity to cultivate international and future-oriented thinking. It is also evaluated to have contributed to the JNU's status and vitalization of international exchange."
