2022 2nd term ‘JEJU Citizen Science College (CIS)’ Completion Ceremony

Autonomous Operational Focused Research Support Project Group (hereinafter ‘the Project Group') in Research Institute for Basic Science (Director Kim Myung-sook) at Jeju National University held the completion ceremony of the '2022 2nd JEJU College of Citizen Science (hereinafter 'JEJU CIS')' at the Basic Science Research Center.
‘JEJU CIS’ is the first program in Jeju to support citizen scientists to discover, plan, and carry out research projects on the natural phenomena of clean Jeju along with basic science researchers. The group has been operating ‘JEJU CIS’ from September 2021.
At the completion ceremony of Citizens Science College, the following research results were presented; △Oreum Plant Monitoring △Seafood Monitoring. These subjects are about the basic science research from the natural environments of Jeju.
The results are expected to contribute to establishing and spreading the science culture in the local community by sharing the results on the 'Isaac Platform', an integrated platform for basic science.
Paeng Dong-guk, Dean of Citizens Science College (Professor of College of Ocean Sciences, JNU) said, “Citizen science is to proceed through mutual cooperation between the spontaneity of citizen scientists and the expertise of researchers. We want the 2nd term citizen scientists to take pride in their experience in the course. We will continue to support citizen science so that it can create value for the local community.”
