Golf prodigy Lydia Ko pays visit to Jeju National University

World’s number one ranked LPGA golfer Lydia Ko (Korean name Ko Bo Kyung) was on campus earlier today (December 18, 2015).
She visited with JNU President Huh Hyang Jin and other university officials, and then met youth golf club members from Jeju area.
President Huh welcomed Lydia Ko on her first visit to the university, as she was visiting her grandfather on his birthday and other relatives in her native land; her parents are from the island. She immigrated to New Zealand with her parents when she was six.
She gave a few tips to the youth golf club members. She told them that she enjoys playing golf, and that helps her play and win golf games. She also advised them not to put too much time to practice, saying that it pays to always think positively and practice course management to be a good golfer.
Lydia’s father Ko Gil Hong and her mother Hyun Bong Sook graduated from the JNU Departments of Physical Education and English Education, respectively. Vice President Kim Doo Chul is her uncle, so her ties to the university are a family affair.
