JNU Museum publishes "Stories of Indigenous Food of Jeju"
Jeju National University Museum (Huh Nam Choon, Head Curator) just released the latest addition to the Jeju National University Museum Monograph Series #2 “Halmang and Hareubang Stories of Indigenous Food of Jeju” (Yiyagi Seom, Publishers; price 15,000 won) . “Halmang and Hareubang” are Jeju vernacular for grandmother and grandfather, respectively.
The book coauthored by Huh Nam Choon, Huh Young Sun and Kang Soo Kyung resulted from the 2015-Regional Cultural Contents Publication Project.
There are 20 culinary and cultural stories about the traditional Jeju food in a narrative vernacular style, including “bing ddeok” (buckwheat flour-radish wraps), soybean porridge, fern break meat hash, etc.
