Prof. Kim Boo Chan authors "The Law of the Sea and Ieodo Problem"

Recently, Professor Kim Boo Chan of the Jeju National University School of Law authored a legal specialist’s treatise entitled “The Law of the Sea and Ieodo Problem”(336 pp, published by Onnuri D&P, 22,000 won).

The book was written to probe the problem of Ieodo in the center of the territorial dispute between China and Korea according to the Law of the Sea.

In the book, Professor Kim opines that the geopolitical complexity of Ieodo as a Korean scientific base arises from China’s territorial overview of the East-South China seas.

However, he advances the argument that the Ieodo problem could be treated in a mutually fair and objective manner on the ground of the Law of the Sea, proposing rational settlement of the Ieodo problem by looking beyond the view of over-simplified territorialism.
