Artist Ko Eun, a Korean painter, donated the work ‘Traces of the Master’, which contains the main building of the old Jeju University Yongdam Campus to JNU.

‘Traces of the Masters’ is a work that he reinterpreted the old building in a picture, feeling sorry that the old JNU main building (Yongdam campus) was demolished. The building was the representative work of the late Kim Jung-up (1922-1988), a prominent pioneer of modern architecture in Korea.

Artist Ko said, “After learning that the building, where I started studying painting in high school, was a representative architecture in Korea, I reproduced ‘Kim Jung-up’s architecture’ in my own way in the spirit of searching for its roots.” She also added, “It is an honor to donate my work to my alma mater, Jeju National University, and the painting contains my wish for the soul of master Kim Jung-up to be revived.”

She graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Jeju University and graduated from Sungshin Women's University Graduate School. She is evaluated as an artist who achieved her own style of painting by combining the brush strokes of ink painting and colored painting, a traditional method of Korean painting that is different from the traditional way of coloring.

Artist Ko Eun held 13 individual exhibitions as well as various invitation and group exhibitions including the 68th anniversary of 4.3 exhibition, and the invitation of nine female artists.
