Medical School observes 2016 Brain Awareness Week especially for area youths

The Jeju National University School of Medicine (Kim Jin Seok, Dean) plans to observe the 2016 World Brain Awareness Week in the JNU hospital auditorium from 13:30 through 17:00, March 19, 2016. The event particularly aims at encouraging for the area youngsters to dream about their future careers.
Under the theme banner of “Youths’ Future Challenge, Studying Dementia,” distinguished speakers are featured to talk about the following topics: “How to develop dementia drugs” (Professor Ahn Sang Mi, Dankook University), “Understanding dementia” (Professor Park Joon Hyeok, Jeju National University) and “Brain research and the future of man” (Eun Soo Yong, Jeju National University).
World Brain Awareness Week organized by DANA Foundation in the US has been in observance to inform the youths as well as the general public worldwide about the importance of brain science and its research since 1992.
This year’s event is held at 14 brain related research organizations around the country from March 12 through 19, as it is jointly sponsored by Korea Brain Research Association and Korea Brain Research Institute.
The brain week in Jeju is co-organized by the JNU School of Medicine and Jeju Regional Dementia Center. Further information about the event program can be found at the website (www.brainsociety.org).
