Korean dialect vs. Jeju vernacular to be discussed

Jeju National University Korean Language and Culture Institute (Bae Young Hwan, Director) is sponsoring a special lecture/forum to discuss the differences between the Korean dialect and the Jeju vernacular in the College of Humanities Hall#2 Jin Yang Hyun Seok Hall, 15:00~19:00, April 26, 2016. Professors Choi Myung Ok (Seoul National University, emeritus) and Kang Young Bong (Jeju National University, emeritus) are scheduled to present and discuss the titled topic at the event.

Professor Choi will focus his talk on the status of Korean dialects and their understanding, whereas Professor Kang will explore the collections of Jeju vernaculars and their characteristics at the lectureship.

The JNU institute sponsors the forum in the hope of reversing the current trend of extinction and preserve the Jeju language.
