JNU Museum, Joint Exhibition with 10 National University Museums
To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the opening of the JNU, the Jeju National University Museum is holding a special exhibition of ‘Hyeong Hyeong Saek Saek- Baek Nyeon Ji Gyeo’ in the special exhibition room in the JNU museum from the 19th to the 21st of October.
This special exhibition is a joint exhibition between the Jeju National University Museum and 10 national university museums. About 40 representative artifacts from the university museums are exhibited. Participating universities are Kangwon National University, Kyungpook National University, Gongju University, Mokpo University, Pusan National University, Suncheon University, Chonnam National University, Chonbuk National University, Chungbuk National University, and Chungnam National University.
Most of the exhibits make their first appearance in Jeju. They are composed of special items that contain the history and culture of each region.
The followings are being introduced in the exhibition; Korea's Paleolithic treasure 'Sumbe Jjirgae', 'Cheonjeonli Petroglyph Rubbed' that has been carved from the Neolithic Age for thousands of years, Silla's Gilt-Bronze Crown', Gaya's 'bowls made of earthenware and Duck-shaped bowl', and Mahan's 'Large-sized Jar coffin'.
In addition, ‘SibiJishinsang Statues Rubbed Copies’ from Tomb of General Kim Yu-shin, ‘Jeonjubujido Map’ showing the appearance of the town during the Joseon Dynasty, ‘Geumgangsan Buljeongdae’ by Gyeomjae, ‘Gimyeongjeoljido Screen’ by Jang Seung-eop, and the writings of King Jeongjo and Gojong are also on display.
The ‘Uibyeonggasajib, Lyric Book’ by Yun Hee-soon, who was a female independence activist during the Japanese colonial period, is being exhibited. The lyrics in the book promote the morale of the righteous army and encourage women to volunteer as a righteous army.
