JNU Museum exhibits Kyungjae Jungsun's classic oriental paintings

In commemoration of the University’s 64th anniversary, Jeju National University Museum (Moon Hye Kyung, Head Curator) presents the classic works of Oriental Painter Kyungjae Jungsun in the museum exhibition hall starting next Tuesday (May 17 ~ June 17, 2016).
The forthcoming gallery includes 57 paintings and one set of 4D film images, kindly on loan from Kyungjae Jungsun Art Gallery (Lee Seok Woo, Art Curator) in Seoul.
The artist (1676~1759) was a uniquely traditional and independent painter of landscape genre. He was a pioneer leading the new cultural trend of the time in late Chosun dynasty.
Exhibiting his works in Jeju for the first time, the JNU museum hopes to establish the similar cultural exchange program not only with the Kyungjae Jungsun Art Gallery, but with other regional museums and galleries.
Art Curator Lee Seok Woo will also lecture on the topic “Kyungjae Jungsun Draws Chosun with a Brush” during the exhibition.
The gallery opens in the JNU Museum at 15:00, May 17, 2016, followed by Mr. Lee’s lecture in the museum audiovisual laboratory hall.
For the convenience of visitors, the museum exhibition will be open on Saturday. There is no admission fee. Open hours are 10:00~ 17:00.
