Prof. Song Pill-Soon gets accolade for achievements from Nebraska University

Professor Song Pill-Soon of the Jeju National University Faculty of Biotechnology and Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute received a career achievement award from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln last month (April 22, 2016).

At an annual alumni reunion held in commemorating the centennial anniversary of the Ph.D. program in chemistry at the University of Nebraska, Professor Song was recognized for his leadership as Department Chair (1987~1996) and as the research mentor for more than 30 doctorate and postdoctoral trainees in chemistry/biochemistry (1987~2003).

The 100th anniversary event was attended by students, faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry, and some of the former members of Song laboratory from all around the world came to honor Professor Song.

A research award named after Prof. Song was established and introduced at the reunion meeting. Fund for the award was established with his gift of $51,000 to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Professor Song presented the inaugural award to Alexey Lipotov, doctorate candidate in chemistry.
