Researchers Moon and Yoo of Black Cattle Research Center win cooking contest



Research staff members Moon Dong Il (Chef, Green Tea Valley) and Yoo Bong Il (CEO, Black Iron Catching) affiliated with Jeju National University Black Cattle Research Center (Park Se Pil, Director) won a Grand Prize for their black pork dishes submitted to the 2016 Food Grand Prix Contest Korean Food Division held in the Korea Agriculture and Fishery Food Distribution Corporation Exhibition Hall last week (May 26~28, 2016).

The contest was sponsored by World Dietary Culture Research Institute and Korea Food Coordinators Association and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, City of Seoul, the Ministry of Food and Safety, and Rural Development Administration.

Four menu items entered the contest, including “black pork-vegetable triple mix”, “black pork tendon buckwheat radish soup”, “abalone-imbedded black pork burger” and “grilled black pork rib buckwheat wrap.”



The prize winning menu items were developed to promote the agreeable taste of black pork. The cooking program is part of the industriall scale breeding and commercialization of black cows with governmental and local funding support.

Black Cattle Research Center plans to arrange a sampling exhibition of the four black port menu items at the 1st Jeju Black Pork Symposium scheduled to take place on June 10, 2016.
