WISET Center runs biotechnology camp for Girls' high schoolers

Jeju National University WISET Jeju Regional Center (Women in Science, Engineering and Technology; Doh Yang Hee, Director) held a biotechnology camp (2016 Girls High Biotechnology Camp: Basic Science Divison-2nd Phase) at the JNU Faculty of Biotechnology and Subtropical Horticulture Research Institute last Saturday (June 11, 2016).
The open laboratory visitation study program has been implemented since 2008, aiming to stimulate the high school students to get interested in biotechnology.
This year’s program was opened with an introductory presentation by Professor Kim In Joong, Biomaterials Majors, followed by tour of the horticulture research institute, isolation and partial characterization of the DNA molecule isolated.
The 3rd phase of the camp is scheduled to begin next month (July 23). The youths successfully completing the phase 2 will be able to advance to the next phase.
