Tamna Cultural Institute Published A Series of Four Academic Books on Yemeni Refugee Research Achievements 

Jeju National University's Tamna Culture Research Institute (Director Jeon Young-joon, Professor of Department of History) has published a Series of four Tamna Cultural Academic books after completing the first stage of the Humanities and Social Research Institute support project at JNU (September 1st, 2019 to August 31st, 2022).

The publication of the academic Series summarizes the research results of <The History of Jeju Island and Refugees to ‘Solve with Kumda’>, a project supported by the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, conducted by the Tamna Cultural Research Institute with the support of the National Research Foundation.

The four volumes of the Tamna Academic Series published this time are from 27 to 30.

The 27th volume of the Tamna Cultural Academic Series, ‘Eotteoke Yeogi Nanmin: Refugee Experiences and Memories’ is a compilation of articles by 9 researchers paying attention to "Jeju Island," a space where the experiences and memories of the subject and others intersect. Although the subjects of the study and the period are different, the articles in 27th volume have a common point of view in that they tried to find the so-called "power of hospitality" in the experience of Jeju Island and islanders excluded from the national center through "Kumda."

Volume 28, "Imi Eonjena Jabjongieossdeon Uri: Migrant Refugee Mix Breeds," combines the writings of 7 researchers. While Volume 27 focused on Jeju Island, the 28th Volume starts with refugees. By discussing the themes of "homogeneity/diversity", "diversity", and "coexistence", the volume is expanding its attention not only to the refugee problems facing the modern world, but also to the areas of economy, politics, and culture that are causing refugees.

Volume 29, "Korean Literature and the Korean Diaspora" is a collection writte by Kang Jin-gu. With a total of three parts, the author explores the identity of the Korean Diaspora through the way Korean literature calls the Korean Diaspora and the perception of male subjects about international marriage and mixed blood.

The 30th volume of the Tamna Cultural Academic Series, ‘Yemen Nanmin Jeju: My Refugee Diary’ is the story of Alghaodri Mohammde Salem Duhaish, who has lived in Namwon, Seogwipo, Jeju as a Yemen Refugee. It is Mohammed's refugee diary, which contains the refugee's journey from Yemen to Jeju. But it's not just about Mohammed's story. The real appeal of the book is the warm gaze and a wide range of ideas from another author, Kim Joon-pyo, who translated Mohammed's diary into Korean. In addition, Kim Jin-sun's article, which explains Yemen's "history and refugees," was combined to create "My Refugee Diary."
