Lee Sanghoon, the son of Lee Si-hyang (Honorary Ph.D. in business administration at Jeju National University), provided scholarships of KRW 30 million, 2 million won each, to 15 students, including Kim Min-ji, a student at the Department of Living Environment and Welfare at JNU. The scholarship was delivered by President Kim Eel-hwan on behalf of Mr. Lee due to the impact of COVID-19.

The Dr. Si-Hyang Lee Scholarship began in 2005 to discover and support talents who contribute to the development of the country and community. The current fund size is KRW 13 billion. This fund has provided scholarships to JNU students every year since 2013, and this is the 10th time.

Among the students who received the scholarship were two students from Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju-si, the hometown of the deceased, and two from their alma mater, Jeju Jungang High School.

The deceased has given his special affection to JNU by donating a total of KRW 2.12 billion to the JNU Development Fund since 2010 for the development of his hometown and nurturing talented students.
