Tourism Management Students Become ‘Wine Sommeliers’
The Department of Tourism Management at Jeju National University announced that all 30 students from the department passed the second-degree wine sommelier test hosted by the Korea Food and Beverage Education Association.
The students who passed the Wine Sommelier exam this time, received theoretical and practical training on the Wine Sommelier course as part of the "Food and Beverage Management Capstone Design" class run by Jeju National University this year.
The Department of Tourism Management said, "Students are conducting various capabilities to nurture global talents in the food and beverage field and revitalize local business through the 'Food and Beverage Management Capstone Design' class." and added, "It is a substantial educational achievement that all students who participate in the class have obtained a second-degree certificate of Sommelier in a short period of time."
Through the "Food and Beverage Management Capstone Design" class, the Department of Tourism Management is developing cocktails using Hallasan Soju and local specialties with Hallasan Co., Ltd.
Professor Lee Sang-mook, who is in charge of the class, said, “We expect this course not only to foster talents, but also to contribute to the vitalization of local industries by linking Jeju-do companies with local specialties.” and added, “I think this opportunity will serve as an opportunity to introduce Jeju’s food culture to the MZ generation.”
