Establishment of ‘Semiconductor Convergence Major’ from the 1st semester of 2023
JNU will open a ‘Semiconductor Convergence Major’ for undergraduate sophomores and above from the first semester of 2023.
In this convergence major class, subjects that can acquire knowledge and skills about materials, device engineering, and process based on semiconductor physics are opened.
This curriculum was newly established to foster professionals with practical skills through participation in Capstone and field practice as well as basic and professional majors. The physics department will be supervised, and three departments, electrical energy engineering, electronic engineering, chemistry and cosmetics, will jointly run the curriculum along with the physics department.
Any students enrolled in 2nd year or higher at JNU can apply for this course. Among the applicants, about 15 students per semester will be selected in order of grades, and graduation is possible after completing 42 credits in the major.
JNU said, "Any students who enter JNU in 2023 can apply for the Semiconductor Convergence Major regardless of their major when they become sophomores."
For excellent graduates, a bachelor's and master's course for 'semiconductor process expert' is also provided. Through this bachelor's and master's course, students can have the opportunity to acquire an additional bachelor's and master's degree in semiconductor-related science and engineering in addition to the degree of their original department.
This course is designed in order to allow JNU students to simultaneously acquire a bachelor's and master's degree in 5 years (3.5 years of undergraduate course and 1.5 years of master's course, or 4 years of undergraduate course and 1.5 years of master's course).
