College of Veterinary Medicine (Professor Young-Min Yoon) at JNU and CareSix Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Sung-hoon), which have jointly developed wearable IoT (Internet of Things) devices for dogs, won two CES Innovation Awards in the wearable device category at the 'Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023' hosted by the 'Consumer Technology Association', the world's largest electronic IT exhibition.

The award-winning devices are ‘Sense 1’, the first wearable device line of ‘Cotons’, a companion animal brand, and ‘Sense 1 Pro’ for early detection and management of heart disease.

This equipment monitors the dog's health using a total of six sensors to identify the dog's disease at an early stage. It also aims to extend the life expectancy and improve the quality of life through continuous bio-signal monitoring of sick dogs.

Guardians and the veterinarians can be notified about the dogs’ biological signals (heart rate, respiration rate, body temperature and electrocardiogram) and clinical signals (exercise, urination, defecation, cough, etc.)' collected by these devices, which allows pets to seek medical attention immediately or receive necessary interventions early.

‘Sense 1’ has a collar-shaped design that is familiar to dogs, minimizing discomfort for dogs. ‘Sense 1 Pro’, in the form of an anxiety jacket, accurately collects abnormal signals from the heart and realizes a dog’s sense of stability at the same time. Yoo Yeong-gyu (former MS Creative Director), who graduated from Jeju University, is in charge of Design. He was selected as the designer who will lead Microsoft's future.

The device, which is equipped with "Cotons AI (Team of Professor Kwak Ho-young of Jeju National University's Department of Computer Engineering), tracks the dogs’ health status and predicts the possibility of disease, providing the guardian with a daily/monthly/annual periodic change.

In particular, when abnormal signals or clinical symptoms are detected, the device immediately notifies the guardian to support the timing of treatment.

This product is planning to be serviced to guardians through veterinary hospitals around March 2023.
