Support the Regeneration of the Old Downtown with the "Wall Painting Volunteer"
The National University Development Project Group of JNU finished the talent sharing volunteer program, ‘My Village Wall Painting Volunteer Program’, with JNU students and faculty.
The old Samdam Police Office in Yongdam 1-dong, Jeju-si, and the parking lot of Yongdam Saemaul Geumgo, which is open to local residents have been redecorated with murals this time. With the Yongdam 1-dong Urban Regeneration Field Support Center in Jeju-si and the Yongdam 1-dong Community Center, about 20 students and faculty members from JNU conducted the wall painting volunteer work.
This mural painting applied CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). This is to prevent crimes against buildings or open spaces that are not being used in the region.
In addition, the team intended to contribute to improving the local image and revitalizing the local community by painting Yongduam and Yongyeongyo, which symbolize the Yongdam area.
JUN has reformed the local environment through the national university development project and improved community problems through collaboration with public institutions and community groups.
Furthermore, it plays the key role of a regional base university that coexists with the region by supporting the capacity building of local members to solve community problems through programs in which residents directly participate.
