JNU Expands Global Exchange through Volunteer Work in Cambodia

JNU dispatched overseas volunteers to Cambodia to secure accountability as a national university, and advance global exchange performance. To this end, JNU held a launching ceremony for an overseas volunteer group and started preparing for activities in earnest on the 3rd of January.

 

JNU's overseas volunteer work in Cambodia will be held from the 8th to the 13th of January. A total of 54 volunteer members consisting of 10 professors, 5 faculty members, and 39 students will be dispatched to conduct △Medical service △Animal care service △Educational service.

 

At the launching ceremony, President Kim Eel-hwan said, "JNU asks all the volunteers to reflect on the meaning of overseas volunteer and work with pride as JNU representatives." He also said that through volunteer activities, eachl participating student is expected to become "A worker with abundant creativity and warm heart that can lead the realization of universal values of mankind" as written in the Jeju National University Charter.

 

The participating students expressed their expectations for overseas volunteer work, saying, "As members of JNU’s overseas volunteer group, we will faithfully engage in volunteer work to promote the development of volunteer work region and raise the honor of JNU. “

 

Since sttarting the volunteer work in the Philippine in 2010, JNU has been operating overseas volunteer activities every year during vacations to help the students understand various national cultures and acquire a glocal mind.
