JNU successfully completed a short-term overseas teacher dispatch project with the National Institute for International Education (Director Ryu Hye-sook) to strengthen the global and cultural capabilities of preservice teachers.

The program was announced by the National Institute of International Education as a "short-term overseas education service for teachers' overseas dispatch project" last year and JNU was selected, and operated the program.

The Global Teacher Training Base University Project Group (Director Oh Hong-sik, hereinafter, GTU Project Group), an affiliated institution of JNU, took charge of the project and operated it. GTU Project Group conducted educational volunteer work with Ho Chi Minh College of Education in Vietnam for 4 weeks from January 30th to February 25th at Ho Chi Minh Phan Dang Luu School.

The educational volunteer group dispatched this time consisted of 12 undergraduate students from JNU Teachers College and 4 undergraduate students from JNU College of Education. They were divided into four teams and educated local school students in their major subjects.

Participating students prepared the education program for four weeks from December 23rd last year. They bought various textbooks and tools locally and conducted the volunteer work. An international student from Vietnam attending Jeju National University accompanied them to interpret local school classes.

Kim Ga-hyeon, a student who participated in the educational volunteer work said, "At first, teaching forign students made me felt like I was dipping my feet in the deep water of unknown depth because my students and I couldn’t understand each other’s language. I gradually opened my mind with the students and taught as I prepared hard. Later, it was such a fun time that what I was worried about was meaningless. “
