JNU Regional Leading University Development Project Group (Director Kim Jae-hoon) hosted the event to evaluate last year's project and seek development direction.

The Jeju National University Regional Leading University Development Project Group held the '2022 Regional Leading University Development Project 4th Year Achievement Forum' at the Grand Hyatt Jeju Banquet Hall on the 22nd of February.

The forum is aimed at sharing the achievements of the 4th year of regional leading universities, and to build a foundation for shared growth through the establishment of a collaborative system among consortiums and the creation of shared values.

The JNU Regional Leading University Development Project is a project led by JNU and cooperated by Jeju Tourism University. In order to foster 'great talents tailored to Jeju Free International City', it has been promoted since 2019 with the participation of 17 institutions and organizations of local governments, public corporations, and industries such as Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Free International City Development Center, Jeju Tourism Organization, Public Officials Pension Service, Jeju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and universities, etc.

'GREAT' talents are those who have globalization capabilities (Globalization), network capabilities (Relationship), education capabilities (Education), analysis/statistical capabilities (Analysis), and convergence/complex capabilities (Talent) of university students in Jeju.

Over the past year, the project group has visited countries with similar environments to Jeju, exploring the regional development and international affairs, and seeking ways to apply them to the region. Since then, the project group has operated specialized programs with various themes such as 'GREAT × JDC Frontier', big data, ESG, metaverse, smart tourism, and carbon neutrality. The number of students participating in this project alone amounts to 2,000.

At the forum, the students participating in the project presented their best practices, including the △ GREAT Experience Contest Winner △ Jeju Future (global) Survey Report △ Great Creative Convergence Contest Winner team △ Student Monitoring Group, and the 3rd Great Supporters.

Director Kim Jae-hoon said, "Universities, local governments, public institutions, public corporations, and regional innovation organizations, including industries, jointly strived to foster great talent tailored to Jeju Free International City, and as a result, we were able to achieve meaningful development and achievements." He also emphasized, “JNU Regional Leading University Development Project group will take the lead in the systematic establishment of customized human resource development in Jeju Free International City in the 5th-year project in 2023."
