Including JNU(President Kim Eel-hwan), Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju Provincial Council, and the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, a total of 23 major organizations came together at the launch ceremony for the Glocal University Promotion Committee to support JNU’s final selection as a Glocal University on July 28.

JNU has completed preparations to become a Glocal University by establishing an innovative governance system for cooperation between the government and the university. It has now entered the final stage of the competition for the “Glocal University 30” project.

JNU hosted the Glocal University Promotion Committee Launch Ceremony at Indah Hall in the campus museum. During the event, JNU solidified a framework for close cooperation among local communities, universities, industries, and public institutions.

The event was jointly hosted by JNU and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Representatives from 23 key institutions and organizations in Jeju attended the event. At the ceremony, the participating institutions announced the official launch of the promotion committee and signed a business agreement to jointly advance the Glocal University project, expressing their strong commitment to securing a spot in the “Glocal University 30.”

The committee will be co-chaired by the Governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the JNU President, serving as the central command center for regional–university cooperation.

Under the agreement, participating organizations committed to: △ Joint operation of the Glocal University Promotion Committee and establishment of governance △ Development and implementation of educational and research programs △ Joint business initiatives to address community challenges and contribute to society △ Joint establishment and operation of the Jeju EduFresh Center

JNU President Kim Eel-hawn said, “With the launch of this promotion committee, we will further strengthen the sustainable shared-growth system between JNU and Jeju region.”
