JNU (President Kim Eel-hwan) hosted a talk concert with Yoo Yeong-kyu (CEO Cloud & Co), a world-renowned creative director at the JNU Aramuse Hall on the 10th of May.

Under the theme of ‘The World, Challenge & Joy’, the event was held in the form of a talk concert with a creative director (CD) Yoo Yeong-kyu on how to move toward the world, challenge, and work happily.

Local residents as well as JNU students, graduates, and JNU faculty members participated in this event. CEO Yoo Yeong-kyu talked about behind stories about the portfolio that he participated in and produced. Also, he explained the reasons for active design activities in the world, like collaboration with famous foreign designers such as Harakenya and Jasper Morrison while stressing values, beliefs, and pride as designers. In addition, he delivered what he wanted to say as a senior to juniors who dream of becoming designers, and continued to answer online preliminary questions and field questions.

CEO Yoo said, “Design is not limited to the area of painting. Designers should be able to propose the project itself, including targets,including targets, and the process of reading the trend of social change, drawing empathy. Applying design changes is not easy.” stressing, “"Anyone can have a crisis such as a burnout, but when a burnout comes, overcoming rather than avoid it at least once is the way to improve your capabilities."

CEO Yoo Yeong-kyu graduated from the Department of Industrial Design at JNU (1997) and worked as a design general executive at Nike Headquarters in the US, Samsung Electronics, and iRiver. He was a member of the designers who designed the HoloLens and Xbox One, which were announced as Windows 10 in 2015 and were selected as Time Magazine's 2015 Product of the Year. He received a number of awards, including the Presidential Packaging of the Korea Design Awards, the UK Wallpaper Design Awards, the Germany IF Design Awards three gold medals, and the Cannes Advertising Festival two gold medals.

A student who attended the lecture said, "This event was a very precious and valuable time by providing opportunities to get a job, work experience, and detailed knowledge of the design field directly from seniors," adding, "I hope there will be more opportunities for various lectures on topics in order to challenge the world. “

JNU Career and University Job Plus Center (Director Yeo In-gyu), which hosted the talk concert, has planned various programs and provided career exploration opportunities for young people in Jeju with the support of Jeju Youth Policy Office and National University Development Project and also plans to continue to take the lead in fostering key local talents.
