JNU College of Veterinary Medicine (President Lee Young-jae) conducted free treatment volunteer work for animals (pets) in Udo Island and Chujado Island in Jeju, for two days on the 22nd of Jnue and 23rd of June as a part of the national university development project.

This volunteer work is a major activity of JNU College of Veterinary Medicine, which is conducted for island areas in Jeju where animal hospitals are not easily accessible. JNU College of Veterinary Medicine medical team visited Udo and Chujado and conducted Pets’ vaccinations and medical checkups for households that couldn’t come directly to places where the volunteer work was conducted.

Specific medical activities included △ rabies treatment △ comprehensive vaccination for infectious diseases △ relief of heartworm and internal and external parasites △ registration of pets, etc.

About 37, including clinical professors, veterinarians, and students at veterinary colleges, participated in the volunteer work, and a total of 106 animals were treated free of charge, including 56 in Udo and 50 in Chujado.

Meanwhile, JNU College of Veterinary Medicine has provided free medical services in domestic and foreign regions every year for more than 30 years since 1992. In particular, residents of Udo and Chujado, where medical benefits at animal hospitals are difficult, have responded greatly to the volunteer activity.
