'2023 GREAT x JDC Frontier' Students Looking for Solutions to Jeju Issues

In Singapore, College students in Jeju sought for solutions to Jeju's pending issues such as groundwater and urban transportation.
JNU Regional Leading University Development Project Group (Director Kim Jae-hoon, hereafter JNU project group) conducted the exploration in Singapore from the 23rd to the 31st of July with 11 teams (36 students) selected for the 2023 GREAT x JDC Frontier.
The "GREAT x JDC Frontier" has been continuing for two years this year with the support of the Jeju International Free City Development Center (Chairperson Yang Young-chul), which is a global education program where university students in Jeju take the lead in establishing topics and plans for exploration and suggesting ways to develop Jeju while exploring in other countries.
JNU project team selected 11 teams after reviewing proposals for each team and presenting PPT. In addition, it provided airfare and activity expenses according to the team's exploration plan. The destination is Singapore, which Singapore has an environment similar to Jeju because specialized industries such as international business and tourism are active.
The advance team conducted an exploration on the following topics: △ Improvement of stay time at Jeju International Airport △ Improving awareness and suggesting services for barrier-free tourism in Jeju △ Exploring ways to develop Jeju startups △ Revitalizing Jeju food culture and creating space △ Sustainable Urban Transportation Innovation in Jeju △ Promotion of Jeju Activity Tourism △ Analysis of Smart Farm Status△ Jeju groundwater and reuse water usage plan, etc
Each team will announce a proposal containing Jeju development plans through a result sharing meeting, based on the results of the survey on August 30.
An official said, "JNU project group expects to grow into a talent suitable for Jeju Free International City by experiencing various realities that cannot be learned in the educational field and presenting concerns and measures for regional development in Jeju.“
On the 14th of July, ‘2023 GREAT x JDC Frontier’ launching ceremony was held at the middle auditorium of JNU College of Social Sciences.
