JNU College of Veterinary Medicine (Director Jung Ji-youl) operated a training program for professionals in the future industry-animal sector linked with the livestock industry, Jeju’s strategic industry from Jun. 26 to Jul. 7. This program was conducted as part of ‘The University Core Competency Enhancement Support Project in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province ’
A total of 35 students, including 28 at JNU College of Veterinary Medicine and 7 at Gyeongsang National University, Jeonbuk National University, Kangwon National University and Kyungpook National University, were eligible for this education for two weeks. JNU professors specializing in veterinary medicine and industrial animals conducted The program consisting of theoretical and practical lectures in all industrial animals, including cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, and honeybees. The students participating in the program gave favorable reviews of the provision of opportunities to strengthen their major competencies.
JNU Prof. Jeong Hyo-hoon said, “Students and prospective graduates can understand the vision of the Animal-Industry through continuous design and provision of customized education in connection with the livestock industry, which is a major industry in Jeju. In addition they can solve the problem of shortage of veterinarians in the Animal-Industry sector as well as build a growth engine for the local livestock industry."
