Jang Hyun-jin, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Food & Nutrition at JNU (under Prof. Kang In-hae's lab), has been selected for the prestigious 2024 Sejong Science Fellowship, a personal basic research project funded by the Ministry of Science & ICT. This fellowship aims to facilitate deep research engagement, enabling young scientists like postdoctoral researchers to establish themselves as key scientific and technological leaders by pursuing their chosen research.
As part of the fellowship, Jang will receive approximately KRW 500 million over a 5-year period to conduct research. Her project will focus on investigating the effects of high fat and high sugar diets on exacerbating the age-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) in the intestine, along with exploring corresponding alleviation mechanisms.
Currently, Jang is involved as a postdoctoral researcher in the 2023 Basic Research Laboratory (BRL) support project, "Laboratory for Control of Inflammatory Respiratory Diseases by Regulation of Sugar Metabolism", working alongside Prof. Kang In-hae, Prof. Ji Young-heun, and Prof. Son Young-ok at JNU.
