JNU produced a total of five successful candidates in the 2024 National Regional Talent Grade 7 Trainee Selection Test, hosted by the Ministry of Personnel Management. This is a significant achievement compared to last year. Over the past three years, the number of successful candidates from JNU was two in 2021, four in 2022, and three in 2023.
JNU's successful candidates for this year are as follows: Bu Seon-yeong (graduate of the Department of Business Administration), Yang Bo-won (graduate of the Department of Political Science & Diplomacy), Lee Gyeong-wan (senior in the Department of Business Administration), and Lee Su-bin (graduate of the Department of Political Science & Diplomacy) for the administrative positions, and Kim Tae-hyo (senior in the Department of Computer Science & Statistics) for the science and technology positions.
The test is a system designed to strengthen the regional representativeness of public offices by evenly hiring excellent local talents. By selecting students who have faithfully completed their college education, the importance of college education is emphasized. Final successful candidates are selected through the university recommendation process followed by the Ministry of Personnel Management exam.
To qualify for university recommendation, candidates who have graduated within three years or are expected to graduate must be in the top 10% of their departmental grades, score 700 points or higher on the TOEIC, and achieve level 2 or higher on the Korean History Proficiency Test. The Ministry of Personnel Management exam consists of a written examination on the Constitution and the PSAT, followed by an interview.
The JNU Division of Career Development is recruiting applicants for the National Regional Talent Grade 7 Trainee Selection Test. The program offers special PSAT lectures, written exam mock tests, course tuition support, and mentoring from successful seniors. To help students focus solely on their studies, JNU also provides accommodations in Injaeyangseonggwan, which includes a library and a dormitory. Recruitment for the 2025 exam is scheduled for June.
Hyun Mi-yeul, Director of the Student Career & Employment Division, said, “It is necessary to maintain academic grades by taking an interest in the selection system for local talent and civil servants and setting goals from the lower grades. To this end, the JNU Career & Employment Division has been working to ensure that the passing rate continues to improve by activating the support class program."
