JNU institute held joint seminar with Fisheries Research & Development Institute

Jeju National University Basic Science Institute (Kim Myung Sook, Director) held the 2020 3rd regular seminar in the College of Natural Science Hall#1 last week (October 15, 2020).
To promote the ties with other research organizations in Jeju Province, the JNU institute regularly conducted joint seminars and for the 3rd seminar, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute Jeju Fisheries Laboratory was invited to participate in the program.
The national institute Jeju laboratory (Lee Hee Jung, Director) shared its program in fisheries and its sanitary management and coastal marine ecology (presented by Han Song Hun, Research Scientist) with the seminar attendees. A Q&A session followed the seminar presentation.
The seminar program also featured presentations by Dr. Kang Jung Chan, JNU Institute, “Improved methods for restoration of Sargassum forests in coastal Jeju, Korea” and Professor Bae Ji Young, “Development of useful materials through exploration of biodiversity resources.”
The seminar event provided the opportunity to exchange research information on Jeju biosphere protective region’s marine and biological resources with experts in different areas.
The 4th seminar plans to host the National Academy of Meteorological Science for a joint seminar on December 17, 2020.
The JNU Basic Science institute expects to have the regular seminar series to facilitate the interactions among the research scientists while inducing the interdisciplinary fusion research to create Jeju region’s unique values.
