LINC+Project holds 1st CDS bigdata contest

Jeju National University LINC+Project (Kang Cheol Woong, Director) staged the “CDS bigdata contest” to stimulate the training of citizen data scientists (CDS) to be able to analyze and process the data that are expected to greatly increase in the 4th industrial revolutionary era.
The contest program was Jointly organized and managed by Jeju National University, Daejeon University, Dong-A University, Hoseo University, Jeonju University, Chosun University, Yonsei University and Hanyang University. 10 contestants who completed the bigdata education class were picked from each university, respectively, for the contest.
Data pre-treatment, explorative analysis, modeling (prediction and analysis) and the bigdata analysis reports obtained through application of DRAG & DROP type CDS bigdata software used in bigdata production and manufacturing areas, social science and medical fields were evaluated for the contest.
For the event, the JNU LINC+Project conducted a “bigdata on & off introductory education class from October 5 through 26, and 11 superior class performers were selected for advanced course before the contest.
Kang Woong Bin (Department of Maritime System Engineering), Lim Jung Eun (Radiowave Information and Communication Engineering) and Kim Young Hee (Computational Statistics) each won outstanding performance award at the contest.
Director Kang emphasized the importance of CDS in industrial management, marketing, and production, etc, in the 4th industrial revolutionary era.
