Dr. Yang wins Future Ornithologist prize from ornithology society

Dr. Yang Mi Yeon, Research Professor, JNU Basic Science Institute (Kim Myung Sook, Director) won the Future Ornithologist prize annually awarded by the Korean Society of Ornithology at the 34th annual meeting of the society held in Samcheok Sol Beach, Ganwon Province, earlier today (October 30, 2020).

Her winning was based on the scientific evaluations of her paper published in the international Journal “Algae.”

The ornithology society picked Dr. Yang for the prize based on her contributions to her scientific field through the publication.

Dr. Yang earned her doctorate degree based on her dissertation (2018) that revolved around the systematic taxonomic and systematic geographic studies of red algae. She is currently investigating the genetic diversity and geographic distribution patterns of the algae.
