Precise Diagnosis of gastric tumor developed using deep learning algorithm research

Jeju National University (Song Seok-Eon, President) has announced that Professor Chang Bo Keun of The School of Medicine Pathology Laboratory published his research paper in the prestigious journal <Clinical Cancer Research> (impact factor ~10.107). His research revolved around developing deep learning algorithm for accurately diagnosing the gastric tumor.

The <Clinical Cancer Research> is an official organ of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) publishing important research papers in the area of cancer diagnosis, therapy and prevention.

 
Conducted jointly with Artificial Intelligence Development Industry and GC Green Cross Medical Foundation, 7,440 cases of stomach tumor were studied with deep learning algorithm and the research therefrom led to a highly efficient and precise diagnosis (100% sensitivity and 97% specificity).

The research also showed a shortening of the diagnosis, a 58% reduction in time for diagnosis
compared to the cases diagnosed by 6 expert pathologists
