김의태 교수, '네이처 마이크로바이올로지'에 논문 게재
Prof. Kim YT has his paper in “Nature Microbiology”

Professor Kim Yi Tae of the Jeju National University (Song Seok-Eon, President) School of Medicine Microbiology Laboratory is the author of a paper just appeared in the online version of the prestigious journal Nature Microbiology in its latest issue (January 11, 2021).

Title of the paper is “Comparative proteomics identifies Schlafen 5 (SLFN5) as a herpes simplex virus restriction factor that suppresses viral transcription.”

The research described in the paper revolved around the virus Herpes Simplex Virus widely infected among the worldwide population and suspected to be a contributing factor to dementia.

Professor Kim elucidated the mechanism by which the viral DNA binds an anti-viral protein for its virulent viral action.

The research publication was co-authored with collaborators from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Childrens Hospital and Glasgow University in Scotland.

Team of the researchers plans to develop an anti-viral drug by extending their research.
