Professor Lee H.-Y. elected as President of plant biotechnology society

Professor Hyo-Yeon Lee of the Jeju National University (Song Seok-Eon, President) Faculty of Biotechnology was elected as the 28th President of the Korean Society for Plant Biotechnology. His term of office is 2 years beginning January 2021.
The society was founded in 1973 as a plant tissue culture society.
Professor Lee earned his MS. And Ph.D. degrees at Tohoku University, Japan. He was on the faculty of Suncheon National University until relocated to Jeju National University in 2003. His primary research revolved around the development of new turf grass cultivars through biotechnology.
He won a research award from the plant biotechnology society in 1995, publication award from the national research foundation of Korea in 2004, and Jookyo Prize in 2014 and LMO achievement award in 2020.
