A Jeju National University graduate named Moon Seong-ik has recently been awarded the Korean Intellectual Property Talent Prize.

According to the university’s announcement on Friday (March 5), Moon graduated in February this year with a BSc degree (major in Electronic Engineering), upon which he won the prize awarded by the Korean Society of Intellectual Properties Education & Research (KOSIPER).

The prize was delivered to the winner through KOSIPER’s Vice President Kim In-jung, a JNU professor who also serves as the director for the university’s Intellectual Property Education Center.

The KOSIPER announces the winner of the annual Korean Intellectual Property Talent Prize among the new college graduates based on the recommendations by IP-related institutions.

Son Seung-woo, President of the KOSIPER, explained that Moon has been selected as the winner for his extraordinary interest in the significance of intellectual properties as well as his potential to contribute to the advancement of the nation’s IP industries.

According to the KOSIPER, Moon actively participated in different education programs and seminars, such as a patent attorney-training program and an IP specialist-training program. Moon was named the Best Mentor for high school students in the 2020 Patent Application Mentoring Camp. The KOSIPER also highly appraised his continued contribution to publicizing issues on intellectual properties through the activities in the JNU Intellectual Property Supporters.
