JNU alumnus Kim Woo-nam appointed Korea Racing Authority head

Kim Woo-nam, a Jeju National University alumnus, was appointed the 37th chief executive officer of the Korea Racing Authority (KRA) on Feb. 26. His term of office is three years.

Kim has served three consecutive terms in the National Assembly after serving as a member of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Council. During his term in the National Assembly, he assumed the chair of the National Assembly Agricultural and Fisheries Committee.

For his perseverance and power of execution, Kim stood out and was appreciated for his best performance as a lawmaker for six years in a row by the Secretariat of the National Assembly. He also received several awards as an excellent National Assembly member given by South Korea’s media outlets.

In 2015, Kim was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in agriculture from JNU for his assistance in revitalizing the primary industry and contributions to promoting regional development and nurturing future generations. He graduated from JNU with a business administration degree from the College of Economics and Commerce in 1982.
