Kang Yeo-jin, a JNU graduate student, and Kim Seo-ah, a JNU undergraduate student (supervised by Prof. Kim In-jung from the Department of Biotechnology), were awarded the Excellence Paper Presentation Award at the 2024 Annual Academic Presentation and General Assembly. The event took place at the Maison Glad Jeju Hotel from Aug. 26 to 28.
Kang Yeo-jin presented on the topic “Characterization and Genome-Wide Genetic Variation of Gamma Radiation-Induced Citrus Mutants, Gwonje-Early and Jedae-Unshiu,” focusing on the analysis of external morphological characteristics and genomes of citrus varieties mutated by gamma rays.
Kim Seo-ah's presentation, titled “Microalgae-Based Techniques for Radioactive Substances: Insights from Patent Analysis,” explored patents from various countries related to the removal of radioactive substances using microalgae, highlighting the latest trends and technological approaches.
The conference was organized in collaboration with JNU’s New Industry Convergence Human Resources Development Project, Subtropical Horticultural Industry Research Institute, Subtropical Genetic Bank Center, Biological Resource Computing Convergence Center, and Subtropical Agricultural Life Sciences Research Institute.
Additionally, the conference featured a special 'Plant Biotechnology and IP' session dedicated to intellectual property (IP). Information on the importance of IP, research, application strategies in industries, and educational outcomes for students was provided to more than 500 participating professors, students, and researchers through a dedicated booth.
