JNU College of Veterinary Medicine, under the leadership of Dean Yun Young-min, conducted free treatment volunteer work for animals (pets) on Udo Island and Chujado Island in Jeju on Sept. 4.
The college has been offering free medical services as part of the national university promotion project for over 30 years, since 1992. This year’s volunteer effort focused on island areas, which are considered medical blind spots.
The volunteer work is a key activity for the college, aimed at serving island regions in Jeju where animal hospitals are not easily accessible. A mobile medical team was formed to visit local government offices and homes to provide animal vaccinations and health checkups.
In Udo and Chujado, 37 staff members participated, including clinical professors, veterinarians, veterinary students, and office staff from JNU Animal Hospital.
A total of 116 animals were treated. The main activities included:△ comprehensive vaccination against infectious diseases △ rabies vaccination △ heartworm and Babesia infection test △ internal and external parasite relief △ pet registration.
