The Parnassus Festival of the JNU Department of English Education, one of the longest-standing traditions at JNU, was successfully held at Aramuse Hall on August 24.
Approximately 200 participants, including JNU students, alumni from the English Education program, Jeju residents, and elementary, middle, and high school students, attended the festival. The event featured a pop song contest and various English experience booths. Additionally, students from the Department of English Education performed the English play "Peter Pan.“
Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, the Parnassus Festival first began in 1974. It is regarded as a historic event for JNU, with a tradition spanning over 50 years, including a period of suspension due to COVID-19.
The festival has played a significant role in introducing and promoting English-American culture within the Jeju community through its English play presentations. Moreover, the event is organized and managed voluntarily by JNU English Education students, providing them with valuable experience and helping them develop various competencies as future educators.
