JNU’s final designation as a Glocal University has further boosted the project to revitalize “K-Cation.”

Confirmed on September 29 by the Ministry of Education as a Glocal Main Designated University for 2025, JNU is pursuing four key strategies.

First, JNU will launch a Korean-style learning travel platform, “K-Learncaton,” in collaboration with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to position Jeju as a hub for global educational innovation. Learncation introduces a new educational paradigm that integrates Learning with Vacation. At a time when universities are striving to reshape education in the era of digital transformation and AI, JNU’s “Learncation,” which harnesses Jeju’s unique environmental strengths, is emerging as a leading model of educational innovation.

At the same time, JNU will launch the Global Nomad University, a fully English-operated institution. To support this initiative, JNU has implemented a real-time translation system, currently in use across lectures and forums at the university. Moving forward, JNU will continue to enhance this system to foster an international, open educational environment free from language and cultural barriers enabling students and faculty from around the world to collaborate seamlessly.

In addition, the Jeju Institute of Advanced Human Resources Convergence (J-CORA), a global talent exchange hub, will be launched to enable scholars and experts from home and abroad to conduct research aimed at enhancing Jeju’s value. JNU will also contribute to building a sustainable development model by advancing Jeju’s clean and carbon-neutral industries.

In this regard, President Kim Eel-hwan said, "Thanks to the active support of Jejudo Island and the dedication of JNU’s members, we were able to achieve designation as a Glocal University," adding, "We will continue to lead in shaping the future together with the local community."
