Jeju National University (JNU) actively initiates and participates in multi-stakeholder forums and dialogues that bring together government agencies, NGOs, and academic experts to discuss and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Jeju Province. These activities facilitate collaboration across sectors for policy development, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
1. Participation in the Jeju Sustainable Development Council Forum (2024)
In October 2024, JNU faculty members took part in a public forum titled “Dialogue for Realising Jeju-SDGs”, organised by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Sustainable Development Council (Jeju SDGs Council).
The forum brought together representatives from the provincial government, local NGOs, civic groups, and universities to discuss cross-sectoral strategies for sustainable development in Jeju.
JNU experts presented academic findings and policy recommendations on climate action, inclusive growth, and environmental education.
This initiative represents a collaborative effort between government, civil society, and academia to strengthen the local implementation of the UN SDGs, aligning with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

2. ESG Policy Roundtable with Public Agencies and NGOs (2023–2024)
JNU also participated in the Jeju Tourism Organization’s ESG Management Advisory Committee and the Jeju Energy Corporation’s ESG Management Committee, which serve as cross-sectoral dialogues linking universities, public corporations, and non-government stakeholders to co-develop regional ESG policies and action plans.
These committees provide a continuous platform for exchange between the academic community and governmental/NGO partners to foster responsible tourism, carbon-neutral energy transition, and sustainability leadership in Jeju.
